(Specialist) Cricket

The Specialist Cricket program is aimed at developing young cricketers and providing them with opportunities to excel in a professional environment, as well as to provide them with the skills necessary to maximise their potential.

The Belridge Cricket Academy is fully endorsed by the Department of Education and Training and the Western Australian Cricket Association.  The coaching staff are highly qualified and have their level 2 accreditation, as well as being highly credentialed educators who bring a love of cricket and a commitment to excellence to the specialist cricket program.

Selections are conducted by the Cricket Coordinator at the WACA in March/April every year, where skills and academic testing takes place; a reference from a local club/coach/peer is also required.  There is, however, the opportunity for students of any age group to trial with the school anytime during the year.  Applicants are put through this competitive process so that the program can be successful in producing high level athletes.  Whilst the selection process is of high importance anyone with a passion for cricket who wishes to achieve their best in the sport are encouraged to apply.

The four hour per week course starts in Year 8 and focuses on:

  • Individual skill development with specialist bowling, batting wicket keeping and fielding coaches
  • Umpiring accreditation
  • Biomechanical analysis
  • Sports nutrition
  • Sports psychology
  • Goal setting and effective time management
  • Fitness and training
  • Sports injury management and rehabilitation

The school has eight turf practice wickets/a five wicket turf centre pitch and state-of-the-art equipment which has been purchased to ensure the highest quality cricket program can be delivered.  Students will have a specialist uniform as being a part of the cricket program to ensure that they are recognised as being a part of what will be a very successful program.
